Want To Know How To Keep Top Talent?
Encourage flexibility and mobility. COVID-19 may have forced businesses into a more "flexible" work mode, but don't confuse working from home with flexibility. Some roles may warrant flexibility but others may not. Don't try to over-manage or have so many meetings that you burn your best people out during this time. Provide a good balance and your best people will thrive!
Level-up employee engagement. Offer opportunities for professional development and continuing education. Across all layers of the organization, it's a win-win if your employees are growing and learning. This is a great substitute to the virtual coffee hours.
Always make your best people feel special. Some executives worry that by giving A players special treatment, they may be creating the perception of a "favored class" at the organization. Create a system in which good things happen to the people who deserve them. The bottom line: An employee's rewards should be in line with his or her contributions. And if you’re treating everyone equally, you’re not doing enough to support and keep the people who matter most.
Today, I celebrate with members of my A-team, as we launched our largest partner to date. They deserve all the recognition in the world.
